Essential Resources

Greater Oklahoma City Area Senior Services

  • Areawide Aging Agency– Serves Canadian, Cleveland, Logan, and Oklahoma Counties (including Oklahoma City, Norman, and Edmond) with homemaker assistance, chore services, transportation, and meal programs for seniors over 60, prioritizing those below the poverty line. Funded under the Older Americans Act, they also offer an Ombudsman program for long-term care residents.
  • Oklahoma Department of Human Services – Aging Services Division – Provides statewide services including legal assistance, volunteer programs (Oklahoma Senior Corps), personal care, respite services, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and transportation. Additional programs include homemaker, chore, and medication management support.
  • Aging Services Inc. – Serves Cleveland County (Norman) with meal delivery, congregate meals, transportation, in-home services, case management, and respite vouchers for caregivers. Supported by state and federal funds, private donors, and local organizations like the United Way of Norman.
  • Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma – Senior Servings Program – Provides up to 12 frozen meals monthly to food-insecure seniors 60 and older in Oklahoma City who face mobility or cognition issues. Contact Sarah Jahan at 405-600-3198 or sjahan@rfbo.org.
  • OKC Parks Senior Services – Offers social and recreational programs at senior centers in Oklahoma City, including fitness classes, arts, and community events to promote active aging.

Stillwater Senior Services 

  • COEDD Area Agency on Aging – Serves Payne County (Stillwater) with information, resources, referrals, and nutrition programs for older adults. Contact Tina Glasgow at aaadirector@coedd.net or 405-273-6410 for details.
  • Stillwater Senior Activity Center – Operated by the City of Stillwater, this center provides social and recreational activities for adults aged 50 and older at 1015 E. 12th Ave., Stillwater, OK 74074.

Federal Resources for Aging Adults  

  • Medicare – Federal health insurance program for people 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and those with end-stage renal disease, providing coverage for medical needs.
  • Medicaid – Joint federal and state program helping with medical costs for individuals with limited income and resources, offering financial assistance for healthcare.
  • Social Security Administration – Provides retirement, disability, and survivors benefits, ensuring financial support for aging adults.
  • Administration for Community Living – Supports programs that help older adults and people with disabilities live independently through community-based services.
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Oversees programs related to health, welfare, and human services, including those for aging adults.
